The JavaScript Developer course provides a complete, practical pathway into modern JavaScript development. You will learn the skills you need to build interactive, responsive, and production-ready web applications. Starting with JavaScript core concepts and then moving into more advanced techniques, you will understand how the language interacts with webpage elements, how to modify onscreen content through the Document Object Model (DOM), how to test and debug code using Google Chrome's developer tools, and more.

You will then explore two leading frontend frameworks: React and Vue.js. In the React module, you will learn current best practices and apply them to build a functional application. In the Vue.js module, you will start with a simple "Hello, Vue!" example and progress toward creating a small, feature-rich math application—an experience designed to show you how Vue enables rapid, intuitive development. Because many organizations continue to rely on legacy codebases, this JavaScript course also covers jQuery, a library still widely used to support older websites. You will learn how to maintain, troubleshoot, and modernize those sites, giving you practical versatility across different technical environments.

In addition to technical skills, you will also practice strategies to help you leverage AI-assisted coding tools, such as ChatGPT, to support your work—from generating code ideas to debugging, refactoring, and accelerating development workflows. Hardware Requirements:

• This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac.

Software Requirements:

• PC: Windows 10 or later.
• Mac: macOS 12 or later.
• Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge is also compatible.
• Java (download and installation instructions are provided in course)
• Visual Studio Code (download and installation instructions are provided in course)
• Adobe Acrobat Reader .
• Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

Instructional Material Requirements:

The instructional materials required for this course are included in enrollment and will be available online.

Prerequisites:

Students should have experience with HTML and at least a basic understanding of CSS.

How long does it take to complete this course?

This course is self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start when you want and finish at your own pace. When you register, you'll receive six (6) months to complete the course.

What if I don't have enough time to complete my course within the time frame provided?

The time allotted for course completion has been calculated based on the number of course hours. However, if you are unable to complete the course, contact the student advising team to see what options you may have available to work out a suitable completion date. Please note that an extension fee may be charged.

This course is non-credit, so it does not qualify for federal aid, FAFSA and Pell Grant. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses.
